Kayla Davenport has been an avid reader and writer her whole life. She'll consume almost any type of story, but her favorite to write are YA dystopians that delve into compelling characters and their struggles. When she's not reading, writing, or working as a freelance editor, she can likely be found binge-watching a Netflix show, spending time with friends and family, or playing with her guinea pigs. Beyond the Gates is her debut novel.

An Editor and Book Coach
Hi, I’m Kayla, a professional editor and certified book coach.
I love all things books: reading books, writing books, helping other writers with their books. If it’s books, I’m there. I’ve been devouring stories and creating my own since I was physically able to read and hold a pencil. When I got to college, I decided to make a career out of my love for books.
I started beta reading and line editing novels for writers throughout my time in undergrad at the University of Louisville, where I earned a degree in business marketing and minors in creative writing and communications.
When I learned of book coaching, I knew immediately that it was my true dream job. I enrolled in Author Accelerator’s Book Coach Certification program and earned my certification in fiction. I love helping writers however I can, and across a wide range of genres. Watching a writer finish a draft of the book they thought they’d never write, or to hear a writer landed an agent, is such a joy. I am here to help writers reach their goals and dreams, and to celebrate with them when they do!
