for writers who want in-depth feedback on a completed draft
Initial Coaching Call
- We will meet at the start to discuss the process, expectations, goals, and any questions you have.
- You will be given a 1-page worksheet that will ask you to think deeply about the foundation of your novel/story idea. This includes elements like genre, why you want to write this story, your ideal reader, and a broad idea of your plot and characters.
- While giving feedback on your manuscript, I will keep your worksheet answers in mind and check to see if the elements are present throughout your story.
- I will do an initial quick read of the manuscript to get a sense of the overall story structure and the big picture elements.
- On my second read, I will go through your manuscript scene-by-scene, looking at the strengths and weaknesses of every aspect of your story. This includes looking at plot, characters, world-building, pacing, flow, structure, and more.
- You will receive an extensive editorial summary with feedback on strengths, weaknesses, suggestions, and next steps. You will also receive a story analysis report that looks at the overall arc of the story.
- You will receive a style guide that outlines characters, locations, and timelines for your story that can be used as you revise or for additional editing.
- After receiving feedback, we will meet on a call to discuss the feedback, any questions you have, and next steps.
